Chuppah

A traditional Jewish wedding canopy, which consists of an embroidered cloth canopy held aloft by four poles and decorated with colours, myrtle leaves and roses.

The chuppah symbolises the home to be built and shared by the newlywed couple, and also symbolises the new husband bringing his wife into his home. By entering a chuppah, the bride declares her independence from her family.
