Patrilocal Residence

The residence pattern in which a newly married couple lives with or near the groom's father. This tradition is strongly associated with patrilineal descent and is seen in over half of the world's societies. Patrilocal residence keeps men near their male relatives, whilst the women must leave their natal households.
